Portage Township Schools is seeking a detail-oriented, organized individual to join our staff as our high school auditorium director.
This position is subject to the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the Board of School Trustees. Pay is hourly based on the extra-curricular schedule.
JOB GOAL:
Under supervision, to maintain the auditorium and adjoining areas in a clean, orderly, and secure manner following a predetermined schedule: to schedule and supervise auditorium events; and to do other related work as required.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of:
- Use of auditorium equipment (sound, lights, ropes, etc.) and basic functions of the auditorium. The ability to schedule events and personnel doe these events.
- Use of cleaning supplies and other elements associated with productions as well as other venues that are operational in the auditorium.
- Ability to: Schedule, manage, and supervise events
- Perform light to moderate manual activities
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships.
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions;
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills in qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skills would be:
Experience:
- Experience involved with the organization of building and facilities
- Experience with equipment use and repair of equipment typically used in the auditorium Experience in theatre
- Education: Post secondary preferred.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Moves and arranges furniture and equipment in preparing rooms for special events or meetings' Schedule and supervise the use of the auditorium
- Performs minor maintenance tasks in keeping assigned areas safe and operational.
- Operates and supervises the use of auditorium equipment.
- Works well with those using the auditorium
- Maintains a clean, safe, orderly environment.
- Performs emergency cleanup service resulting from breakage, vandalism, spilling, and illness. Assists in reporting and preventing facility vandalism
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Physical Demands: The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying our essential job functions. Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 30-50 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. This type of work may involve ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps to a height of 25 feet, and will involve walking or standing for extended periods. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information,
the manual dexterity to operate light equipment and use hand tools, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job. |
