DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following responsibilities are required of the position, plus any other duties that may be required by the employer. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the building principal.
- Engage students in learning, manage student behavior in a positive, proactive and constructive manner for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance
- Prepare students to become productive responsible citizens through positive proactive engagement and modeling.
- Establish effective rapport with students, seek to meet individual student needs.
- Collaborate within the department to recruit students needing additional support
- Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continuing education.
- Establish positive relationships with students, parents and other staff members.
- Supervise students within assigned areas and as needed.
- Deliver group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines.
- Provide diverse learners with accommodations and modifications to ensure learning. At a minimum provide the legally required modifications and accommodations as outlined in each child’s IEP, 504 plan, Health Care Plan or other legally mandated document.
- Collaborate with other teachers, administrators to address instructional and/or classroom issues.
- Create and support a culture that empowers students.
- Encourage a culture of inclusiveness and support for all children.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Students, volunteers, assistants
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: Indiana License to teach in appropriate grade/subject
