DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: The following responsibilities are required of the position, plus any other duties that may be required by the employer. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the athletic director(s).
- Develop the activities for the assigned sport, including appropriate practice and competition schedules, season records and other awards, equipment and uniform inventory
- Notify student athletes of all policies, procedures, and training rules according to the sport assigned
- Emphasize skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, character development and discipline within the sport assigned
- Supervise student athletics during practice, competitions, or other activities, and correct student athlete conduct as appropriate
- Monitor academic progress of student athletes to ensure eligibility
- Coordinate and secure all facilities and equipment, including uniforms or other supplies, used by the team and staff
- Maintain team roster
- Perform any other responsibilities related to the coaching positions needed or directed by the athletic director
- Provide leadership that promotes positive attitudes and good sportsmanship
- Work with student athletes in a fair, understanding, tolerant, systematic, and patient manner
- Promote school and community interest in the sport assigned
- Holding preseason or postseason parent meeting
- Ensure required physical examinations and forms are completed and submitted
- Maintain association membership
- Maintain certification in IHSAA -mandated courses and CPR
- Report all injuries or other concerns
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge of the sport assigned, with prior successful coaching experience preferred
- Familiar with Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) and National Federal of State High School Associations (NFHS) rules concerning the sport assigned
- IHSAA and NFHS Coaching Certification preferred (training available)
- First Aid and CPR certified as well as knowledge and understanding of the concussion protocol (training available)
- Ability to communicate with parents and students
- Ability to address situations dealing with blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
- Ability to foster positive student-athlete relationships, and to work effectively with students, staff, parents and the community
- Exhibits high standards of professional ethics and conduct
- Successfully complete criminal history and DCS clearances
SALARY: Coaches are paid a stipend according to the season of the assigned sport.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must have the ability to demonstrate the proper techniques and skills needed for athletic participation.
