Position Description - Food Service Delivery/Light Maintenance Coordinator
SHIFT: 6:30-3:00 (8.00 Hours)
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Class: Full Time/School Year
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following responsibilities are essential functions, plus any other duties that may be required by the employer. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the Director of Food Services.
- Delivery of food, bakery and non-food products to all school sites, in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Reports to work on time and is not absent frequently
- Follows all established rules and policies
- Receives and handles food and supplies according to the food safety plan
- Organizes school food and supply orders and prepares pick list for delivery
- Performs monthly inventory of food products, including but not limited to dry, refrigerated and frozen products.
- Loads and unloads delivery truck safely
- Occasional loading and unloading of vendor/supplier trucks and vehicles
- Maintains warehouse area, coolers, freezers, storerooms and delivery trucks in clean, orderly and sanitary condition
- Communicates with schools via email to ensure smooth ordering and delivery process and responds to questions in a timely manner
- Responsible for understanding the basic principles by which the School Breakfast and Lunch Programs are operated and keeps up to date on current issues
- Responsible for processing site orders and organizing vendor orders
- Responsible for maintaining a professional and courteous attitude with fellow employees, building staff, and students
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of employee and district information
- Practices exceptional customer service, including participating in marketing and nutrition education promotions
- Accurately completes HACCP logs
- Collects bank deposits from sites and delivers to the bank for deposit
- Delivers food and supplies to sites in the delivery truck in a safe and time sensitive manner
- Cross-trained to assist in the kitchen as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Service Supervisor or designee
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to become ServSafe® certified
- Valid Indiana Driver’s License with no restrictions which would preclude driving on the job
- Must have experience in the operation of a forklift truck
- Possess good basic math skills
- Observes all rules and regulations of the School Food Service program and abides by the rules and regulations set forth in the Support Staff Handbook
- Must have and put forth a good attitude regarding employment, job duties and peers.
- Demonstrates the ability to work within the school community
- Must have the ability to efficiently organize inventory for easy loading, unloading and delivery of products.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; climbing and balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling; reaching, handling, fingering and/or feeling. The job is performed under some temperature extremes, some hazardous conditions and in varying atmospheric conditions. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools or equipment. The employee must be able to move/lift up to 75 pounds such as milk crates, cases of frozen or canned food, portable equipment, and occasionally move items weighing up to 100 or more pounds (using available equipment). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. A sanitary work environment must be maintained. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
